The NL-43 is a Class 2 sound level meter from Rion, distributed by Norsonic, designed around connectivity and ease of use. Its LAN terminal — activated by the optional NX-43EX extended function program — enables remote access from a web browser on any PC or smartphone, allowing users to monitor live measurements, operate the meter remotely (start/stop, settings, time adjustment), and download stored data files. Connection can be made over a local wired network or via a mobile router for access from any WAN location, making the NL-43 suitable for unattended environmental noise monitoring at remote or unoccupied sites. The instrument features a backlit 3.5-inch TFT-LCD QVGA display with touch panel, designed for intuitive operation without the need to consult the manual. The USB Type-C connector provides power supply from commercially available portable chargers or PC USB ports, communication control, and access to the internal SD card as a removable disk — all through a single cable. IP54 water resistance (excluding the microphone) protects the body against dust and water splashing from any direction; an optional all-weather windscreen WS-15 raises microphone weather protection to IPX3. Compliant with IEC 61672-1: 2013 Class 2, ANSI/ASA S1.4-2014/Part1 Class 2, and JIS C 1509-1: 2017 Class 2, the NL-43 measures A, C, and Z frequency-weighted sound pressure levels over a measurement frequency range of 20 Hz to 8 kHz. Up to four measurement conditions with different frequency and time weightings can run simultaneously, with auto store mode logging instantaneous Lp (intervals from 10 ms to 1 s) and calculated Leq values to SD card. The NX-43EX extended function program also unlocks waveform recording (NX-43WR at 12/24/48 kHz sampling), 1/3 octave real-time analysis (NX-43RT per IEC 61260-1), and FFT analysis (NX-43FT with 2.5 Hz resolution up to 20 kHz).
