Nor1203 1/2" Insert Voltage Preamplifier

Insert voltage preamplifier for 1/2" measurement microphones.

Overview

The Nor1203 is a precision 1/2" insert voltage preamplifier engineered to provide the critical interface between condenser measurement microphones and sound level meters or analysis systems. With an exceptionally low self-noise of less than 2.5 µV and an input impedance exceeding 10 GΩ, the Nor1203 preserves the full sensitivity and dynamic range of externally polarized 1/2" microphones, ensuring …

Key Features

  • Ultra-low self-noise < 2.5 µV for high-sensitivity measurements
  • High input impedance > 10 GΩ preserves microphone sensitivity

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is TEDS?
TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) per IEEE 1451.4 is a standardized method for storing microphone calibration data, serial number, and sensitivity in a small memory chip within the transducer. When connected, the instrument automatically reads the TEDS data and configures itself with the correct sensitivity and calibration values, eliminating manual entry errors.
  • What is the advantage of insert voltage calibration?
Insert voltage calibration allows you to verify the electrical gain of the entire measurement chain from the preamplifier input through to the analyser output, without physically removing the microphone. A known voltage is injected at the preamplifier input, enabling traceable in-situ calibration checks that complement acoustic calibrator verification.
  • Which microphones are compatible with the Nor1203?
The Nor1203 is compatible with all standard 1/2" externally polarized condenser microphones conforming to IEC 61094-4, including Norsonic models Nor1225, Nor1227, Nor1228, and Nor1229, as well as equivalent microphones from other manufacturers. It also supports prepolarized microphones when no polarization voltage is applied.

Application Guide
