If the microphone self-noise is close to the level being measured, it will contaminate the result.     The Nor1227 is optimized for low self-noise (< 16 dB(A)) and extended dynamic range (> 110 dB), making it ideal for quiet environment measurements. The Nor1225 is the standard general-purpose free-field microphone with higher sensitivity (50 mV/Pa), best suited for typical environmental and industrial noise levels. Choose the Nor1227 when measuring levels below 30 dB(A).
  • Can the Nor1227 also measure high sound levels?
    Yes, the Nor1227's dynamic range exceeds 110 dB, so while it excels at low-level measurements, it can also handle typical environmental and moderate industrial noise levels. However, for very high sound pressure levels exceeding 140 dB, the Nor1228 with its higher maximum level capability is the better choice.
